Kick-off to a Training
Course
Starting situation
The task was to structure the first day of the
internal training course of a large organization. 25
participants who didn’t know each other came
together.
Objective
A creative start to the seminar was intended to
support the employees in getting to know each other
and networking. The kick-off aimed to encourage the
participants to ask questions openly, promote
networking among the participants, and leave a
lasting impression of a dynamic and entertaining
start.
Course of action
Interaction exercises helped develop awareness
among the participants of one another and
facilitated contact initiation. Theatrical
techniques were used to assimilate and transfer
stimuli. Other exercises supported “arrival” in the
seminar room that was initially unfamiliar to
everyone. Personal presence was promoted by means of
the participants “making their own space”. In the
scene-based work, small groups dealt with their
expectations of the course and their relationship to
the subject of the training program and presented
these within short presentations. The kick-off
lasted six hours.
Benefit
The theatrical start to the seminar relaxed the
atmosphere. In the course of the kick-off, the
individuals involved developed a group spirit. The
participants had “arrived”, they were stimulated and
open for the first input from the series of
seminars. The successful start was an important
basis for the lasting openness between the
participants as well as the dynamics of the entire
course.
